Description: Make a wish on a rainbow; also: at the end of a rainbow is a pot of gold.
Rainbows held magical significance for many ancient peoples. In parts of the UK there is a tradition of children 'driving away a rainbow' by making a cross on the ground with two sticks. It is thought this may be a remnant of Norse belief, where the rainbow was a bridge for souls to cross into the afterlife.
In Austria, a similar belief states that the souls of children walk into heaven on a rainbow bridge.
