Description: An Australian Aboriginal curse called 'pointing the bone' is fatal in its victims.
Origin: Ancient, Australia
This Aborigine belief is a form of execution that is said to leave no trace and is always fatal. A piece of human or animal bone is shaped and treated in a series of secret rituals. Its makers then hunt the victim, sometimes for years, until they have an opportunity to point the bone at him and recite a chant. The condemned man might live for days or weeks after the curse is complete, but his death soon is certain.
In 2004 a group of Native Australians ritually cursed Australian Prime Minister, John Howard, by pointing a bone at him. He remains still alive in 2011.
