Description: Never place money in someone else's hands.
It is common in Russia for a shop assistant to ask you to place money beside the till, and not into their hands, or a taxi driver to ask for the payment to be put on the dashboard. Money is thought to transmit a kind of psychic energy from its owner to owner. Once the money is placed down, the psychic link is broken, and the money is safe to handle.
It is also bad luck in Russia to give an empty wallet to someone, or to place coins on a table. Whistling inside a house is said to scare money away. Coins scattered in cupboards and drawers throughout a house are though to attract money.
