Description: An ancient Chinese text called the I-Ching can be used as to foretell the future.
Origin: Ancient China
The I-Ching is said aid the divination of the future in a manner similar to Tarot cards - but a reading is cast by the shuffling a bunch of stalks from a Yarrow plant, instead of a shuffled pack of cards. The oracular message is revealed as short cryptic poems that evoke Taoist and Confucian philosophy. In other words, they can sound a bit like the wisdom dispensed by fortune cookies.
