Description: Cover your mouth when you yawn; a yawn is a sign that danger is near.
Origin: Ancient Rome
As with sneezing, some ancients theorists feared that the soul could sort of slip out of the body during a yawn, creating an opportunity for evil spirits to get in and trash the place. Romans doctors believed this caused the deaths of many newborns - and advised new mothers to cover their babies' yawns until they could learn to do it themselves.
